Negative World Podcast 083 - Please Podcast In The Form Of A Question

The Negative World Podcast is back! We've taken an unintentional hiatus this summer as so much energy of mine is spent right now on advancing my off-line life. Joe and I hadn't much time to catch up either so we got our schedules aligned and recorded a new episode of the show! It's our shortest (main) show ever in fact at just over an hour long!

In this episode you'll find that Joe (Ninsage) and Stephen (DrFinkelstein) have a grab bag of topics to discuss.

To start things off they discuss Joe's recent endeavor into the world of pub trivia with other Negative Worlders. Then they discuss Video Game Vinyls for a moment. Thirdly Stephen brings up this new amiibo news regarding the Shovel Knight amiibo. After that it's a brief Now Playing segment (or more like Been Playing) where Joe has been focusing on Kirby and the Rainbow Curse primarily while Stephen is still up to his neck in ink with Splatoon. I hope we'll be able to get back to the usual podcast schedule and lengths soon enough but for now we might be seeing shorter episodes like this one. I'd also like to get the Negative World Euphonic back and running. If anyone wishes for that as well, let us know in the comments.

We finish the show with a mention of the late Satoru Iwata. I had intended to make this episode an Iwata-ganza but with everything going on I haven't been able to write a show that would do him justice. So we plan to do something in remembrance soon enough but not at this time. As I just saw his name roll in the credits of the last game I beat, he will always be remembered and he'll always be warming our hearts even when he is no longer with us.

There isn't any specific music in this episode but the show's theme music is, as always, from Negative World site owner and operator, Zero.

Negative World Podcast 082 - Amii3bo

Thank you for your patience fellow Nintendo gamers! The final third installment of our E3 2015 episodes! What a fun romp it has been doing these! In this episode you'll find we almost come full circle. First up is Rob (Mr_Mustache), followed by Jon (HammerLord), and in our final segment we have a pairing with Paul (Ploot) and Dave (BeardedNerd). The host situation is shaken up a bit this time around as well with Paul jumping in Rob's segment to co-host and by the final segment Joe (Ninsage) takes his throne once more. Stephen (DrFinkelstein) is around the whole time because he loves to hear his own voice. ;)

In this episode all guests get to speak their peace in the Five Questions of E3. Rob and Stephen discuss amiibo, its role at E3, and Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival. Afterwards Jon brings Smash DLC discussion to the table as well as a mention about LetsSuperMario.com. Go check it out! Once Joe joins the group, Paul and Dave discuss a gauntlet of topics to finish out the show. There's Star Fox Zero, Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, and finally Super Mario Maker! What a great way to end E3 2015 and our podcasts! Be sure to click the links which will take you to the various trailers where relevant.

Music for the episode is borrowed from a few sources; Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Street Fighter II. The show's theme music is from Negative World site owner and operator, Zero.

While we recorded this show last month in June, it is unfortunate that as I release it and write this post that the news of Satoru Iwata's death has travelled far and wide. There is no mention of that in this episode and we at the Negative World Podcast plan to pay our full respects with our next recording coming very soon. If you would like to discuss this tragic news and share in the mourning over at Negative World, you can do so at this link.

The Power, The Wisdom, The Courage. Rest In Peace, Mr. Iwata.

You'll find filling out this episode the following folks… We've got, Kris (Kriswright), Greg (TheBigG753), Grant (GameDadGrant) and Andrew (Zero) as main guests. Of course there's the dastardly duo, Joe (Ninsage) and Stephen (DrFinkelstein) hosting the whole thing.

In this episode we continued to ask each guest a series of five questions relating to Nintendo, E3, or some combo of the two. Once we gained some specific general perspective from each guest we dove into specific topics relating to E3 that each guest wanted to bring to the table. In this second episode Kriswright wanted to talk about Super Mario Maker and Yoshi's Woolly World. TheBigG753 chats about Metroid Prime: Federation Force and the NX. GameDadGrant discusses Hyrule Warriors: Legends, Fire Emblem Fates, and Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam. Lastly, Zero brings up Earthbound Beginnings and Star Fox Zero. Negative World Podcast 080 - Obviously Puppets

E3 was earlier this month and we sure do have an onslaught of podcasts coming your way. I'm trying my best to edit them quick but after a series of unfortunate events (and a lack of sleep) I have finally gotten this first one out! It's got a lot packed into it too! We recorded this on the Wednesday of E3 2015 and all in all, between the hosts, guests, and a special segment you'll find the following awesome Negative Worlders! We've got, Michael (Pokefreak911), Lou (TheOldManFromZelda), and Anand (Anand) as main guests. Then we have a special segment with Grant (GameDadGrant), Paul (Ploot), and Dave (BeardedNerd). Then finally of course there's Joe (Ninsage) and Stephen (DrFinkelstein) hosting the whole thing.

For each episode, we asked each guest a series of five questions relating to Nintendo, E3, or some combo of the two. Once we gained some specific general perspective from each guest we dove into specific topics relating to E3 that each guest wanted to bring to the table. In this first episode Pokefreak911 wanted to talk about Nintendo's Overall Presentation and of course Xenoblade Chronicles X. TheOldManFromZelda chats about Star Fox Zero and The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes. Finally Anand talks about Super Smash Bros. DLC for Wii U and 3DS while also bringing his own special topic about perception to the show. Be sure to click the links which will take you to the various trailers where relevant.

You'll find a special segment sandwiched between the five answers segment from Joe and I and the first guest. In it is about ten minutes of immediate discussion that occurred right after the Super Smash Bros. Nintendo Direct that kicked off Nintendo's E3 week. I had been over at Ploot's house with BeardedNerd and GameDadGrant where we watched it live. Then we discussed briefly. All three of those guys will be actual guests in Episodes 81 and 82 but it's a fun mini-segment anyway.

Music for the episode is borrowed from a few sources; Xenoblade Chronicles X, The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes, and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS. The show's theme music is from Negative World site owner and operator, Zero.

Negative World Podcast 079 - Ultra 64 Realistic

Alas we are now in fateful June and the E3 birds are singing their songs! E3 is almost near and for that the podcasters of Negative World are in full swing! This episode puts together Joe (Ninsage), and Stephen (DrFinkelstein) with their buddy Hendrik (Jargon) as they discuss Nintendo gaming and run through E3 predictions.

To start the gang gets another Yooka-Laylee Update from Stephen and then we hear Hendrik's thoughts on the upcoming Playtonic game. There's only a little over a week until the kickstarter ends so be sure to jump on it now if you haven't yet! Then Hendrik takes us down memory lane to the March Madness bracket he put on a few months ago. This one was based on third-party titles and we dive into how he put that together, the results, and what we learned about ourselves.

After that the group goes into Now Playing where they start by having Hendrik run us through the latest Mario Kart 8 DLC Pack (2) and discuss each uniquely wonderful stage. Then Joe brings Mighty Switch Force to the table as well as Steamworld Dig. Both of which he nabbed in the recent Nindie Bundle by Humble Bundle. Stephen rounds things out with none other than Splatoon.

Nintendo pulled a surprise Micro Nintendo Direct earlier last week so the crew dabbles into the little bit of news that brought us and then the guys dive in to an hour or so of E3 predictions pulled both from the internet and our own Negative World! We start off with more realistic ideas and then take on some more 'creative' ones.

Music for the episode is borrowed from Chibi Robo! The show's theme music is from Negative World site owner and operator, Zero.

Negative World Podcast 078 - It's-a-Me, Your Density!

There's less than an average work day in hours left before Splatoon hits the eShop. My copy is coming in the mail tomorrow. So before you dive in, splatting up the place, give this show a listen! Hey! Listen!

Welcome to Part 2 (more or less) of the big recording session that Paul (Ploot), Joe (Ninsage), and Stephen (DrFinkelstein) had which started with Episode 77. Now that they've got all their Now Playing out of the way, it's time for them to get down to business.

In this episode the trio discusses the Splatoon Global Testfire which happened throughout this past month. After that they spend a majority of the show discussing the entire History of E3! These dudes hop in a DeLorean and go back in time starting with the very first E3 and bringing us back to the present day. What were the big games being discussed? What were the promotional strategies? They tackle it all!

The next episode will be a standard episode where with an E3 focus as we gear up for the big week coming in the middle of June. The week of E3 we'll be recording a plethora of E3 2015-related content featuring an unprecedented number of guest speakers. The collective voice of Negative World will be heard! DrFinkelstein hopes to get all of this goodness out in June, as close to the recording period as possible. Cross you fingers! (or bribe with amiibos)

The show's theme music is from Negative World site owner and operator, Zero.

Negative World Podcast 077 - Marvel at the Hype Train

Welcome to another episode of the Negative World Podcast! We recorded this one just a few days ago and in my dedication to do these episodes as timely and best I can leading up to E3, I edited the dang thing already too! Well sort of,... you see this episode is a part one of two since the actual episode 77 lasted about 4.5 hours long. Yeah... I know... so expect another funky ending as we focus on the front half of our usual show plan and stay tuned for the rest next week.

For this episode we have Stephen (DrFinkelstein) and Joe (Ninsage) playing host to Paul (Ploot)! Despite Paul's been in a handful of episodes, it's been some time since he's been on the show and this was actually his first time being on with Joe! They get along splendidly.

After kicking the show off with another update from the Yooka-Laylee kickstarter campaign, the guys listen in on Paul's thoughts. Did he back it? You have to listen to find out. Then the crew jumps into Now Playing. You'll hear them discuss Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, Grand Theft Auto V, Marvel Puzzle Quest, Stretchmo, and Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney. The final segment, of this show anyway, is a new segment called Hype Train!!! and in it you'll hear each speaker explain what they're hyped about this week! It's supposed to be short and sweet. (but we'll get there...).

Stay tuned for next week when the gang continues their conversations as they discuss the Splatoon Global Testfire and go through the entire History of E3.

The transition music for the main topic comes from Splatoon and the theme music is from Zero's masterpiece.

Negative World Podcast 076 - Back to the Tarmac

The weather was nice. The planes were fueled up. The British had a new game concept and it was time for Stephen (DrFinkelstein) to get back to the tarmac with Peter (Octorockin) and Joe (Ninsage)!

The climbed into the cabin and took off on a podcast adventure with a primary destination in mind. Up and coming game developer, PlayTonic Games, had recently launched their official Kickstarter for their new game, Yooka-Laylee. Go on over and support it! There's still 31 days left! The trio, excited as ever at the prospect, goes in depth on what this game could mean for them and for the future of the collect-a-thon 3D platformer genre. Before this all, the group has a bit of Now Playing where Octorockin tells us all about Code Name S.T.E.A.M. and DrFinkelstein monkeys-around in Donkey Kong 64, amongst other games.

After the Yooka-Laylee discussion the three celebrate the music works of David Wise and Grant Kirkhope, who happen to be working on the soundtrack for Yooka-Laylee. Each picks a particular favorite track from both composers. It's like a mini-Euphonic episode packed right in!

Finally they wind down with a little banter regarding what remains over at Rare (now a Microsoft 2nd party company). Apparently Rare is poised to showcase something new at E3 2015 and there's a little speculation about it. Be sure to stick through the end of the show to hear DrFinkelstein end it without a script and pretty much confuse the hell out of Ninsage.

The transition music for the main topic comes from Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze and the theme music... yep you're right... still hasn't changed from Zero's masterpiece.

Negative World Podcast 075 - Marth, the Gateway amiibo

Welcome to the Negative World Podcast! This one is quite unusual as it's part two of our many-hour discussion about the April Nintendo Direct. Stephen (DrFinkelstein) is once again (obviously) joined by Andrew (Zero) and Joe (Ninsage) to finish up their discussion from Episode 74.

By the time this episode aired, Joe's SJFC Smash Bros. Tournament had commenced and boy was it fun! Look for some thoughts from Joe himself in Episode 76 as I'm sure he'll talk about it. You can, and should, still go visit Child's Play Charity to see how you can continue to help their cause.

Specifically in this episode the gang discusses Mario Maker, Yoshi's Woolly World and definitely 'amiibo'. DrFinkelstein has a couple of amiibo-related stories to share which paint the unfortunate picture that Nintendo has painted for themselves. Afterwards there's even more talk from Nintendo's future, so check it out!

Instead of a break this time, the episode will end, but please stay tuned as HammerLord joins us for a special segment where we celebrate his Super Smash Bros. Tournaments from the website and hear his thoughts on the series. We're thankful to have such a well-seasoned player in our midsts.

There is no break music in this episode but you'll find Zero's theme music still in it's place.

Negative World Podcast 074 - Charity Smash

Welcome to the Negative World Podcast! While recording this episode, we had so much content to discuss that the recording went over four hours pre-edit. Then there was an hour-long special segment recorded a few days later... thus this episode was split into Episode 74 and Episode 75. Please enjoy Episode 74: Charity Smash; featuring Andrew (Zero), Joe (Ninsage) and Stephen (DrFinkelstein).

It's named as such because Joe has a very special announcement to make in the form of an upcoming Super Smash Bros. Charity Event he's hosting in partnership with the Child's Play Charity. Please head over to the SJFC Smash Bros. Tournament page where you'll find information about the tournament, a link to donate to, and the link to watch it live. Every little bit helps so please donate to the cause.
The tournament will happen on April 18th; 1 PM EST.

Elsewhere in the episode the gang discusses what they've been playing. Andrew brings up Dark Souls and Teslagrad. Joe updates us on Hyrule Warriors and tips us in to a very unique game called The Dream Machine. Stephen has been tackling BOXBOY! recently and some of the 3DS remake for The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.

After the break the trio gets right into it with a discussion related to April 1st's Nintendo Direct. The portions found in this episode focus heavily on Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart 8 as they discuss the DLC packs announced, what it means for the future, and finally Joe and Stephen have that 'in-depth' DLC discussion they've been wanting to have for many episodes now. Surely this isn't over.

In light of timing, the episode already clocked in at over two hours so the remainder of the Nintendo Direct discussion will take place in an upcoming Episode 75. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the show! Music in this episode is from the The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D for the 3DS. Zero's theme music completes the show.

Negative World Podcast 073 - Allies or Nothing

Welcome to another installment of the Negative World Podcast! In this episode Joe (Ninsage) discovers a deep love for overtaking Hylian keeps in Hyrule Warriors. Then Stephen (DrFinkelstein) tells a story of one of the luckiest game-finds in a long while. Then he discusses his experience with Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and Pokemon Shuffle before airing his grievances on how he's been fooled again by the Pokemon franchise with Pokemon: Omega Ruby.

After the jump we've got a trio of discussions. Fink details the upcoming Shovel Knight DLC, then the duo discusses in depth how Club Nintendo is coming to an end, before finally taking some inspiration from the forums and talking about what it means to 100% games, why they do it, and why they don't.

Music in this episode is from the Pokemon Shuffle for the 3DS. Zero's theme music completes the show.

Negative World Podcast 072 - The Nintendo Life

Now we're caught up! Welcome to a great episode that was recorded just a few weeks back... the same day Nintendo had their last 'general' Nintendo Direct and showed us the greatness coming in Spring 2015. This episode it's just Joe (Ninsage) and Stephen (DrFinkelstein) as the duo discuss the news that came from the Nintendo Direct.

They talk Splatoon, amiibo, Xenoblade Chronicles X, the 'new' 3DS XL, and much much more. That's all packed into the second two thirds of the show however as the first third is a nice Now Playing segment where the guys discuss two new Nintendo games... Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and Fantasy Life.

DrFinkelstein is flying south for a little while but upon his return a new episode shall be recorded, so keep an eye out for new episodes! Thanks for the continued listenership as Joe, Stephen, and the various guests all appreciate your ears and support!

Music in this episode is from the Fantasy Life for the 3DS. Zero's theme music completes the show.

Negative World Podcast 071 - Ignorance is Bliss

Welcome to another 'Retro-episode' of sorts... as in... very late release compared to it's original discussion period. I feel bad because we have the excellent Paleo_Orca on with us this episode. He hasn't been on the show in years and it was great having him back. Of course besides his voice you'll find the voices of Joe (Ninsage), and Stephen (DrFinkelstein) as well.

The show's title of 'Ignorance is Bliss' is a reference to a lot of comments I seem to make which by now have either been revealed, refuted, or just plain silly. Luckily the other guys make more sense, or at least their commentary isn't outdated. Thus it's still a great episode where we talk about Castlevania games, Super Smash Bros., Bayonetta 2, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and Guacamelee Super Turbo Championship Edition.

After the Now Playing, the group talks at length about tons of Nintendo Direct news from late 2014, including Xenoblade Chronicles X and more.

The next podcast is nearly edited but I'll be on a business trip this coming week. Still, expect to see it sooner than later! Then we'll be all caught up on episodes and recording fresh once again!!! If anyone with any audio experience is interested in editing future podcasts, we'd really appreciate the support.

Music in this episode is from the Guacamelee and Zero's theme music completes the show.

Negative World Podcast 070 - The Consistency of Nerf

The show still goes on! At this time we're actually a few episodes recorded but there's a hold-up in editing. My sincere apologies to the fans. That said, consider this episode like an awesome time capsule a few months in the making. Chris (Chrisbg99), Grant (GameDadGrant), Joe (Ninsage), and Stephen (DrFinkelstein) sat down to discuss the results of the Brawl In The Family Kickstarter and then moved on to games they've been playing. This episode we have Teslagrad, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Hyrule Warriors, and even the old-school PSX titles, Jumping Flash 1 and 2. There's even more games discussed than that so check it out!

The next segment kicks off with the results of the Super Smash Bros. Stages Bracket and then into a full-blown segment on Super Smash Bros. 3DS. I hope you'll all enjoy the show. We've got two more in the can and I'm working on getting those out too when I get time. If anyone with any audio experience is interested in editing future podcasts, we'd really appreciate the support.

Music in this episode is from the Hyrule Warriors and Zero's theme music completes the show.
