Negative World Podcast 076 - Back to the Tarmac

The weather was nice. The planes were fueled up. The British had a new game concept and it was time for Stephen (DrFinkelstein) to get back to the tarmac with Peter (Octorockin) and Joe (Ninsage)!

The climbed into the cabin and took off on a podcast adventure with a primary destination in mind. Up and coming game developer, PlayTonic Games, had recently launched their official Kickstarter for their new game, Yooka-Laylee. Go on over and support it! There's still 31 days left! The trio, excited as ever at the prospect, goes in depth on what this game could mean for them and for the future of the collect-a-thon 3D platformer genre. Before this all, the group has a bit of Now Playing where Octorockin tells us all about Code Name S.T.E.A.M. and DrFinkelstein monkeys-around in Donkey Kong 64, amongst other games.

After the Yooka-Laylee discussion the three celebrate the music works of David Wise and Grant Kirkhope, who happen to be working on the soundtrack for Yooka-Laylee. Each picks a particular favorite track from both composers. It's like a mini-Euphonic episode packed right in!

Finally they wind down with a little banter regarding what remains over at Rare (now a Microsoft 2nd party company). Apparently Rare is poised to showcase something new at E3 2015 and there's a little speculation about it. Be sure to stick through the end of the show to hear DrFinkelstein end it without a script and pretty much confuse the hell out of Ninsage.

The transition music for the main topic comes from Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze and the theme music... yep you're right... still hasn't changed from Zero's masterpiece.

Negative World Podcast 075 - Marth, the Gateway amiibo

Welcome to the Negative World Podcast! This one is quite unusual as it's part two of our many-hour discussion about the April Nintendo Direct. Stephen (DrFinkelstein) is once again (obviously) joined by Andrew (Zero) and Joe (Ninsage) to finish up their discussion from Episode 74.

By the time this episode aired, Joe's SJFC Smash Bros. Tournament had commenced and boy was it fun! Look for some thoughts from Joe himself in Episode 76 as I'm sure he'll talk about it. You can, and should, still go visit Child's Play Charity to see how you can continue to help their cause.

Specifically in this episode the gang discusses Mario Maker, Yoshi's Woolly World and definitely 'amiibo'. DrFinkelstein has a couple of amiibo-related stories to share which paint the unfortunate picture that Nintendo has painted for themselves. Afterwards there's even more talk from Nintendo's future, so check it out!

Instead of a break this time, the episode will end, but please stay tuned as HammerLord joins us for a special segment where we celebrate his Super Smash Bros. Tournaments from the website and hear his thoughts on the series. We're thankful to have such a well-seasoned player in our midsts.

There is no break music in this episode but you'll find Zero's theme music still in it's place.

Negative World Podcast 074 - Charity Smash

Welcome to the Negative World Podcast! While recording this episode, we had so much content to discuss that the recording went over four hours pre-edit. Then there was an hour-long special segment recorded a few days later... thus this episode was split into Episode 74 and Episode 75. Please enjoy Episode 74: Charity Smash; featuring Andrew (Zero), Joe (Ninsage) and Stephen (DrFinkelstein).

It's named as such because Joe has a very special announcement to make in the form of an upcoming Super Smash Bros. Charity Event he's hosting in partnership with the Child's Play Charity. Please head over to the SJFC Smash Bros. Tournament page where you'll find information about the tournament, a link to donate to, and the link to watch it live. Every little bit helps so please donate to the cause.
The tournament will happen on April 18th; 1 PM EST.

Elsewhere in the episode the gang discusses what they've been playing. Andrew brings up Dark Souls and Teslagrad. Joe updates us on Hyrule Warriors and tips us in to a very unique game called The Dream Machine. Stephen has been tackling BOXBOY! recently and some of the 3DS remake for The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.

After the break the trio gets right into it with a discussion related to April 1st's Nintendo Direct. The portions found in this episode focus heavily on Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart 8 as they discuss the DLC packs announced, what it means for the future, and finally Joe and Stephen have that 'in-depth' DLC discussion they've been wanting to have for many episodes now. Surely this isn't over.

In light of timing, the episode already clocked in at over two hours so the remainder of the Nintendo Direct discussion will take place in an upcoming Episode 75. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the show! Music in this episode is from the The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D for the 3DS. Zero's theme music completes the show.

Negative World Podcast 073 - Allies or Nothing

Welcome to another installment of the Negative World Podcast! In this episode Joe (Ninsage) discovers a deep love for overtaking Hylian keeps in Hyrule Warriors. Then Stephen (DrFinkelstein) tells a story of one of the luckiest game-finds in a long while. Then he discusses his experience with Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and Pokemon Shuffle before airing his grievances on how he's been fooled again by the Pokemon franchise with Pokemon: Omega Ruby.

After the jump we've got a trio of discussions. Fink details the upcoming Shovel Knight DLC, then the duo discusses in depth how Club Nintendo is coming to an end, before finally taking some inspiration from the forums and talking about what it means to 100% games, why they do it, and why they don't.

Music in this episode is from the Pokemon Shuffle for the 3DS. Zero's theme music completes the show.

Negative World Podcast 072 - The Nintendo Life

Now we're caught up! Welcome to a great episode that was recorded just a few weeks back... the same day Nintendo had their last 'general' Nintendo Direct and showed us the greatness coming in Spring 2015. This episode it's just Joe (Ninsage) and Stephen (DrFinkelstein) as the duo discuss the news that came from the Nintendo Direct.

They talk Splatoon, amiibo, Xenoblade Chronicles X, the 'new' 3DS XL, and much much more. That's all packed into the second two thirds of the show however as the first third is a nice Now Playing segment where the guys discuss two new Nintendo games... Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and Fantasy Life.

DrFinkelstein is flying south for a little while but upon his return a new episode shall be recorded, so keep an eye out for new episodes! Thanks for the continued listenership as Joe, Stephen, and the various guests all appreciate your ears and support!

Music in this episode is from the Fantasy Life for the 3DS. Zero's theme music completes the show.

Negative World Podcast 071 - Ignorance is Bliss

Welcome to another 'Retro-episode' of sorts... as in... very late release compared to it's original discussion period. I feel bad because we have the excellent Paleo_Orca on with us this episode. He hasn't been on the show in years and it was great having him back. Of course besides his voice you'll find the voices of Joe (Ninsage), and Stephen (DrFinkelstein) as well.

The show's title of 'Ignorance is Bliss' is a reference to a lot of comments I seem to make which by now have either been revealed, refuted, or just plain silly. Luckily the other guys make more sense, or at least their commentary isn't outdated. Thus it's still a great episode where we talk about Castlevania games, Super Smash Bros., Bayonetta 2, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and Guacamelee Super Turbo Championship Edition.

After the Now Playing, the group talks at length about tons of Nintendo Direct news from late 2014, including Xenoblade Chronicles X and more.

The next podcast is nearly edited but I'll be on a business trip this coming week. Still, expect to see it sooner than later! Then we'll be all caught up on episodes and recording fresh once again!!! If anyone with any audio experience is interested in editing future podcasts, we'd really appreciate the support.

Music in this episode is from the Guacamelee and Zero's theme music completes the show.

Negative World Podcast 070 - The Consistency of Nerf

The show still goes on! At this time we're actually a few episodes recorded but there's a hold-up in editing. My sincere apologies to the fans. That said, consider this episode like an awesome time capsule a few months in the making. Chris (Chrisbg99), Grant (GameDadGrant), Joe (Ninsage), and Stephen (DrFinkelstein) sat down to discuss the results of the Brawl In The Family Kickstarter and then moved on to games they've been playing. This episode we have Teslagrad, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Hyrule Warriors, and even the old-school PSX titles, Jumping Flash 1 and 2. There's even more games discussed than that so check it out!

The next segment kicks off with the results of the Super Smash Bros. Stages Bracket and then into a full-blown segment on Super Smash Bros. 3DS. I hope you'll all enjoy the show. We've got two more in the can and I'm working on getting those out too when I get time. If anyone with any audio experience is interested in editing future podcasts, we'd really appreciate the support.

Music in this episode is from the Hyrule Warriors and Zero's theme music completes the show.
